Dayton FFA advisors and students are were very excited to announce that we added a Unified Showmanship Show to our 2017 Livestock Show. The Unified show is open to all life skills students at both Dayton High School and Woodrow Wilson Junior High. Our Life Skills students or athletes, as we like to call them, have ring assistance by Dayton FFA students as they show either a pig or a goat. Our goal for this show is to allow our athletes to not only show livestock but to gain lifetime experiences. Students assisting gain an understanding of people with special needs through an interactive experience. All students involved with this show will gain the following characteristics: maturity, respect, patience, responsibility, and self-confidence. Through a series of practices our athletes and students not only be able to work together on their showmanship skills, but also gain lifelong friendships. For many athletes this may be the first time that they have ever seen or touched a large animal. All participates receive prizes regardless of their placing, and champion exhibitors receive Dayton Livestock Show belt buckles for their victory. We utilize the animals that will be exhibited by Dayton FFA and 4H members at our livestock show. Students participating will learn the fundamentals needed to properly show both swine and goats, please come out and support their hard work. This a great community service opportunity for the students of Dayton FFA, but more importantly it’s a one of kind experience for our athletes. This is a community wide event and all are invited and encourage to attend. We look forward to seeing you at the 2025 show!
